Minutes from Meeting on April 17, 2008
Those present:
Rick Gibson, President, South Middle River Civic Association (S.M.R.C.A.)Phil Thornburg, Director, Parks and Recreation, City of Fort Lauderdale
Purpose of Meeting:
To discuss and set goals for the future of a park at in the South Middle River neighborhood association located at 1718 NW 6th Avenue. The park has particular significance as, with the exception of Warfield Park, it will be the only park of significance and green space in South Middle River. It will be central to the City of Fort Lauderdale, and will potentially invigorate and draw positive attention to one of the City’s most challenged and largest geographic areas.
The location of South Middle River as the largest neighborhood association in the City of Fort Lauderdale, and in an arguably central and blighted area, places extreme impact to the City from the outcome of planning for this park. Therefore, a meeting was scheduled to further the interests of the City and South Middle River.
